  i agree. such great insight into the 'system' and the life and mind of the perpetrator along with those left behind.
  
  "shot in the heart" by gary's brother Mikal Gilmore was also really good.
  
  another book along the same lines that is definitely worth checking out is 'in cold blood' by truman capote.

    I just read this also. Then I spent two hours on the web trying to find a picture of Nicole Baker Barrett. Never did.
    
    I read Shot in the Heart years ago, still give me the creeps. Very very good book. Hope Mikal got sober.
