I just finished reading this book, by Paul Neilan and I was very entertained. I heard about it through a webcomic about libraries (check it out, overduemedia.com) and was just wondering if anyone else has read it.
Its a short pithy little hilarious novel about a quirky guy who makes totally inappropriate yet incredibly funny observations about his very odd life. I would highly recommend it to those who like Chuck Palahniuk.

Re: Apathy and Other Small Victories
Mon, July 20, 2009 - 9:21 PMSadly this post went unanswered, so I will do the honors... Yes indeed I have not only read the book, but own two copies, and have had one never returned. I love to read it out loud while on a road trip. After working in book stores for 7 years, and reading literally thousands of books over the years, this one stands out as amazing from beginning to end... No there is no point, and I am glad of it! I got rather tired of the pretentious drivel, and moved on to straight dark humor.
I have tried for two years to find another like it but have failed, nothing else gets it right... I just wish he would write another book. -

I like off-the-wall quirky.
Does any one here like science fiction? -

Maybe this should be a new thread, Snert...
Anyway, after Margaret Atwood, I don't want to hear another word about fantasy worlds.
I like off the wall quirky too. As in Tom Sharpe. We have a thread on him already, i think. -

Re: Apathy and Other Small Victories
Thu, August 6, 2009 - 10:47 AMIf you liked "Apathy", then you should also check out "Pinball Theory of Apocalypse"... similar light read, but even better and wackier, IMHO.

Funniest fucking thing I've ever read. Highly recommended. Palahniuk would approve.
