"Please Write for Details". "The Girl, the Gold Watch and Everything". By John D. MacDonald. Seriously Funny.
I think my saintly old grey haired mother has every book and short story written by him.
Ok, I'm a plebian but I like what I like. So there, pipe that in your put and get down off your throne.
Mein Kampf bored me and this is from the kid that read the entire Encyclopidea Britannica and Webster Collegiate Dictionary just so I knew something about stuff I wanted to talk about.

Re: Re-reading
Mon, June 22, 2009 - 11:39 PMJust the title had me giggling hysterically. Now, here is one man with a seriously good taste in books, listen to what Snert has to say on this one.
"The paperback edition, a Fawcett Gold Medal, hit the shelves in 1960. Despite his prolific output, Please Write for Details is a rare excursion into comedy, for this normally somber author." (from a review by J. Shurin "carnivore" who posts reviews under his real name.) -

Re: Re-reading
Tue, June 23, 2009 - 9:44 AMMost of his books are about the dark side.
"One Monday We Killed Them All"
"Slam the Big Door"
"April Evil", to name a few.
But he wrote some science fiction that had fasinating concepts.
And I'd like to meet Travis McGee. -
