Hi all! I just a few hours ago finished this book, right before dinner (yummy steak!). I liked the ending, its solemn voice/feeling. Anyone else read this? I'm going to look into the next books - both on the earth side and on Ender's side - anybody read them also? I think Speaker to the Dead and Ender's shadow.
This book had a plot/premise that is similar to an idea I had when I was little, and have been trying to outline it into a book/novel. Still a bit foggy on all the details and characters, but this book gave me an example of the story I want to tell. :)
Happy Mothers Day to those mothers out there!
Jennifer.

Re: Ender's Game By Orson Scott Card
Sun, May 10, 2009 - 9:42 PMI really enjoyed this series. They made me consider many things from a new perspective.
Thinking of the series as a whole I especially liked how the author challenges humanities/society's perception of sentient life. -

Re: Ender's Game By Orson Scott Card
Sat, May 16, 2009 - 6:40 AMI thought Ender's game was excellent and have re-read it a couple of times.
As far as the other books in the series...
Speaker of the Dead was not bad, I think I have reread it once. I would certainly recommend it if you enjoyed Ender's Game.
Xenocide and Children of the Mind I found to be fairly boring.
Since I have read them, two more books have been added to the Ender series, A War of Gifts and Ender in Exile. They both take place between Ender's Game and Speaker. Ender's shadow takes place at the same time as Ender's Game. It is essentially Ender's Game retold through the experiences of Bean with some of Bean's pre-academy backstory.
I have also read Ender's Shadow, Shadow of the Hegemon and Shadow Puppets. I enjoyed the first two more then any of the others besides Ender's Game and enjoyed Shadow Puppets about the same as Speaker. -

Re: Ender's Game By Orson Scott Card
Sun, May 31, 2009 - 11:50 AMOrson also has an early american series that is well worth reading. I actually listened to it on tape while I do my gardening.
Orson also has a web site that he gives his current views.
Again worth the time to look at his work.

Mon, June 1, 2009 - 8:38 AMVisiting his website was *interesting*. I learned that I don't need anything extra from my authors. A really good book is enough.
I'm buying their product and not their person. In Orson's case I'm really glad for it.
