  I really enjoyed it. It was far more steeped in history than your basic vampire story ala Anne Rice or what I suspect the Twilight books are like. And it created an interest to travel to Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey.

    If you like a little of both (history and myth), Andrei Codrescu's "Blood Countess" is a phenomenal read. Imagine Anne Rice on steroids with a literary pedigree and a historical bent.
