I work at an indie bookstore, I suggest this book to just about everyone.
I have scoured our store, inventory & read-a-like sites for suggestions...nada
I am seeking a suggestion of something similar to this book.... -

For example: how long it would take Central Park to revert back to what it was 300 years ago.
Very interesting and thought provoking.
The Discovery Channel has done a show about the same thing.

I once learned in biology lessons that it would take only 100 years to turn the world back into a jungle, if people left it alone. Wishful thinking...but one can always dream in order to cheer up a little, looking out the window at the smog, right?

Tue, June 9, 2009 - 9:10 AMI agree -- the Yucatan is a mysterious place of hurricanes, exponential plant growth, and high water tables (no surface rivers). I'd think it would take far less than 100 years to erase signs of humans. Much is still hidden there- most is perhaps.
