I have been sitting back and I have watched this ''joust'', ''new moderator'' debate unfold. And all I have to say is, this is not a hostile takeover, it is not a playground bully, come on people we are grown ups. Canela saw a need for a new moderator and she put it out there to see how other people felt, she is not even nominating herselve she is putting forward someone she believes can do the job. We have been given the opportunity to a ''nay'' or ''ya' vote.
There is nothing hostile about seeing a need and trying to fill it.
Please can we get on to books and grown-up stuff because you know what I have been to university and I don t want to go back to kindergarten.

There is no other way to spin it.
"The way to shut someone up in a tribe without a live moderator is to vote for a new moderator who will then go and get rid of him. This is what I have been told by tribe.help when I complained to them about being bullied by some new member on the "just finished reading" tribe."
Just because she calls her opponents "bullies" doesn't make it right.

There are those of us however that find <the process> from start to finish leading up to Bink being instituted by tribe.net as moderator riddled with unknowns, questions, and without consensus.
And, there has never been any obstacle for the past few weeks to folks continuing to talk about books. Thanks to tribe.net for thread-topics. -

Mon, June 8, 2009 - 8:04 PMWhat we have here is the herd mentality. The weak minded circling the wagons out of fear.
Bring in a new moderator. Crack down on dissenting thought. Don't let anyone rock the boat.
Some people read books as a fashion statement, without understanding or caring about a word that was read.
Other people love books because they inspire and provoke thought.
Which shall it be here? Books to conform and comfort the herd, or books to challenge you?
I already know the answer, from years on tribe, I know how tribers think.
Let the censorship begin! -

****
She wants to "shut up" someone. Not me, originally, though now she surely does. She wrote these words before I was a member of this tribe, so the "bully" to whom she referred was not me.
She justifies her scheming plan to censor others by calling them a bully, but she's a bully herself. Even if her opponent was a bully, so what? Is that how we deal with the issue, by taking over the moderation of a tribe under false pretenses?

Re: Come on...
Tue, June 9, 2009 - 11:31 AM> it is not a playground bully
Hmm, interesting choice of words. People who don't listen to others, press their own agenda despite the conflicting desires of their peers, and blithely dismiss any criticism as irrelevant qualify quite nicely as playground bullies, imho.
> We have been given the opportunity to a ''nay'' or ''ya' vote.
Really? When/where did that happen, exactly? I must have slept through the nominations, the campaign, and the election. Damn halcyon.
> There is nothing hostile about seeing a need and trying to fill it.
No. Too bad she hasn't limited herself to making suggestions, rather than force feeding her ideas of "proper" and "acceptable" down the throats of other, more critical thinkers.
You all intending to sit still for this?
I have nothing but respect for Bink, but I intend to carve Tribe admin a new one for supporting this coup. And I suspect that Canela's overdue denouement will come out in the wash. Look it up, shrew. -

Tue, June 9, 2009 - 3:34 PMThere realy is no need for namecalling.
And I wrote this little comment to make people see how much time and words have been wasted on a very simple issue and how ridiculous this whole thing has become.
And I do respect everybodies opinion and you obviously need to revert to namecalling in order to make your point clear so what does that make you?! -

Re: Come on...
Tue, June 9, 2009 - 6:42 PMI hardly have to resort to name calling to make my point clear. My point is very clear and you simply chose to ignore the facts because the facts do not serve your agenda.
I cited the facts to you. In particular, Canela's own admission that her purpose for seeking a new moderator was to "shut up" her foes. That is an undisputed fact. That I have expressed my low opinion of Canela's actions does not change the facts.
Canela calls me and any other opponent names all the time. Inarticulate, nasty, gloating, playground type insults. In contrast, the things I say about her are actual descriptions of her conduct and her intellect.
There is a difference between name calling and describing someone as they are.
You claim you respect everybodies (sic) opinion, but I did not express an opinion. I expressed fact. Do you respect facts? I am the only one who has cited any relevant, undisputed facts on the issue.
Canela wanted a new mod in order to shut up her opponents. Fact. Undisputed. In her own words.
What else is there to discuss? -

Re: Come on...
Tue, June 9, 2009 - 10:13 PMThat's the spirit. If someone tells Canela a joke, like this soup joke, she'll repeat it a hundred times. It's a defensive measure that she uses when her attempts to get the moderator to make someone "shut up" fail.
Next she'll introduce the Arab-Israeli debate to this tribe. More fun than a barrel of monkeys. Or, to repeat her favorite joke, it is like a monkey trying to fuck a football.
There's nothing you can do to save face, Canela. You can't hold your own in any debate, and so you invariably resort to trying to enlist the moderator to "shut up" your opponent. This isn't the first tribe you've pulled this stunt in. Nothing you can say about any of your opponents changes the facts or your admission. -

Re: Come on...
Wed, June 10, 2009 - 6:51 AMChristie is one of Canela's followers, too, everyone.
They are a pair who cannot grasp the concept of irony.
The irony of joining a book club and then wanting to censor, i.e., "shut up" other membes is lost on them. Book lovers normally abhor censorship, but not these two.
It is reminiscent of another moment of irony, when Canela perpetrated the utlimate buzz-kill in a humor tribe, Ask Aunt Bea, by starting the hopeless and tiresome Arab-Israeli debate. Someone called Canela an anti-semite, and with no sense of irony whatsoever, she defended herself by declaring:
"I am not an anti-semite. I'm German!"
She still doesn't see the historical irony in this statement.
Pro-censorship, no sense of irony. Who would expect to find such people in a book club?
Word has it Canela left that tribe when the moderator would not "shut up" Canela's foes. Not being able to take over the tribe's moderatorship, she went looking for a tribe she could try to take over. Voila, "I just finished reading..." gets a new moderator. -

Wed, June 10, 2009 - 7:34 AMSOT, I have been told you are an unemployed lawyer. From this I can only glean that you are making all this up in order to sound like a gang of highschool bullies instead of yourself.
And for your information, I was deleted from Aunt Bea's tribe for trolling you back, during some menopausal dark moment of hers. Apparently she loves you more than me and wanted to save you from me. ; )
And yes, indeed, this is the book tribe.
Do you ever read anything, besides tribe? Are there any books you would like to discuss with us that you have actually read and just finished? Or otherwise, what are you doing here and aren't you bored with us yet? -

Re: Come on...
Wed, June 10, 2009 - 12:11 PMWhatever you were told about me is wrong. I am aware of your source of information. Your source of information is a bunch of cyber stalkers who hate me because I dare to discuss the law as it applies to their cyberstalking. They are prone to making up information about me.
As for unemployment, I think it is your sources of information who are unemployed. That is how they have the time to devote entire tribes and blogs to talking about me on a daily basis. These people are obsessive compulsive. One of your sources was and probably still is in love with me and is a cyberstalker with profoundly disturbing behavioral issues.
You know these people make no sense. You question them yourself. But your anger at losing an argument with me blinds you to the obvious contradictions in their actions and words, so you allign yourself with these genuienly malicious people. These people consistently use tribe as a platform to try to hurt people in real life, and some of them are law breakers.
By contrast, all I do is argue. Sure, I use alts sometimes, for entertainment. Everyone knows they are alts, however, so what is the harm? It's all part of the entertainment and goofyness of tribe.
If I win the argument, I get called a troll. But I break no laws and stalk no one. Arguing or challenging someone in a debate is not stalking. I don't ever take this outside of tribe, unlike your stalker friends who have made many real life threats to the people they meet on tribe.
I read extensively, and read many of the same subjects you read, such as Isabelle Eberhardt and the Middle East. I've studied that subject extensively. I'm not inclined to try to have a meaningful discussion with you on the subject, however, as I have not seen where you can handle a debate. You go off the deep end if anyone challenges your positions.
That is why you get trolled. -

Re: Come on...
Thu, June 11, 2009 - 6:00 AM>>And what the fuck does all this have to do with books ? <<
Nothing. Nor does it seem to have anything to do with the moderator discussion anymore. It is just Canela and DA bickering and trading insults.
Get back on topic or take it to PMs please. Maybe you two can make a your own tribe just for insulting each other?
I don't care if someone has multiple accounts and I don't care if Canela pushed for a new mod to silence people or not, because no one is has been getting silenced. This is ridiculous. Canela, you are way over the line with the personal attacks and insults and DA I am only interested in your drama because it is an annoyance that I have to deal with.
I will start deleting the bickering between you two if you can not keep it on at least a vaguely impersonal level. If you want to insult each other, at least try some subtlety. I believe that deletion is typically pointless, but if it will break the back-and-forth provocation between you two, I'm willing to try it in this instance. If you want to fight with each other in this tribe, find a book to fight about. Just think of it as your own little cold-war era style proxy war. -

Re: Come on...
Thu, June 11, 2009 - 6:32 AMBink, I appreciate the thought you have given to this. But understand that Canela already belongs to a tribe that is devoted almost entirely to a handful of cyberstalkers bickering and complaining about me. I occassionally monitor that tribe for its entertainment value and lo and behold, that is where I found Canela bragging about how she was going to take over this tribe in order to shut up her opponents.
Canela hangs out in that tribe to be fed the misinformation about me that she reports back here as insults.
In that context, suggesting we take it elsewhere is a bit too late. Once a person has made it up in her mind to demonize and hate someone over the internet, there is almost nothing you can do to intervene.

Re: Come on...
Thu, June 11, 2009 - 6:59 AMI don't really care who did what to who or any of that crap. I don't care about what was said on other tribes or what plots people are supposedly hatching. I don't know what all this cyber stalking crap is about, or what goes I have no intention of educating myself on the matter. The explanations and justificaitons from the both of you are meaningless babble to me.
To sum it up, unless it is about books or the aspects of this the I Just Finished Reading tribe, I don't care.
And I won't delete the whole thread just the messages that are nothing more then personal insults and accusations. You both seem perfectly capable of discussing books in the other topics, stick to that. If you still want to argue about how I became moderator and whether the system was fair, that is fine too. But keep it impersonal. -
